PUPPP, Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy (aka pupps rash or pregnancy rash), is a common skin condition known as polymorphic eruption that occurs among pregnant women. It causes major discomfort for pregnant women during and after pregnancy. The symptoms of PUPPP include extreme itching, warp-like bumps/lesions (papules) that can cover the entire body, extreme irritation, and redness. These symptoms appear to be consistent among those who have experienced PUPPP.
For those suffering from PUPPP, Grandpa’s Pine Tar Bar Soap is just what the doctor ordered. The soap provides relief from the intense, aggravating itch caused by PUPPP. Grandpa’s Pine Tar Soap is very soothing and moisturizing. It leaves your skin feeling calm and soft. The relief is temporary and only last for about 30 minutes to an hour, but anyone who is suffering from PUPPP will be more than happy to have any kind of relief. While the soap is soothing and takes away some of your agony, it is not a cure for the pupps rash.
Grandpa’s Pine Tar Soap is made of vegetable pine tar oil and has a woodsy, pine scent. The bar of soap is rather solid and will last for a while. I took a shower with it twice a day for almost a full month using only one bar. It is very dark brown or black in color.
I did not experience any side effects or issues while using Grandpa’s Pine Tar Soap. I started using it after I gave birth to my son. So I cannot tell you how using the soap while pregnant will make you feel; however, I have not found any mention of the soap being unsafe to use while pregnant. Just as a precautionary measure, pregnant women should consult their OBGYN before trying anything while pregnant.
